Frustration!?!

I appreciate all of the responses (and so quickly!) and I promise to be a better blogger. In fact, I had a real nice thank-you post and video of Luke jabbering-like you requested-but the video won't download. I can't figure it out and I won't give up trying to download it. Stand by for it-it's kind of funny. Bethany teases about how Luke doesn't move his jaws when he talks but he does a little in the video.

Until then, I'll just share a different episode of Luke. Yesterday I noticed some of my shoes were missing. That scared me. You see, Luke has a current practice of 'putting things away.' Translation: if there is something in sight that can be lifted and a compartment of some sort that can be opened, the object disappears into the compartment. For example, Luke will put his pacifier/cars/spoons/etc. into the trash can if the lid is not securely locked. And yes, our trash can has a lid that locks for just this purpose. Another example-open washing machine, bye-bye sippee cup. You see, he knows that I believe everything has a place, he's picked up on that from me always picking up after him. Blocks in the living room basket; cars in the train bucket; balls in the monkey bucket; books in the shelf.

So when I realized I wanted a certain pair of shoes for church this morning and I couldn't find the right shoe, I started asking Luke. His reply was typical. "Yo, bbbbbbbbbbbbbmmmmmmmmmm jjjjjjaaaaaa dada oh." (Seriously, you'll understand once you see the video.) So I started my search. I went for the trash can in the living room and the one I was using for my scrapbooking projects-nothing. I looked under the bed, in his closet, the wagon, toy boxes, everywhere I knew he had access to. Nothing.

But then I also noticed that the missing shoes were all sandals-one tan, one black, and one brown and they were all the right foot. How could the little thief have planned that?!?
Needless to say I wore a different pair of shoes to church. So after Luke's nap, I asked again with more or less the same response. I sat in my closet trying to think of where these shoes could have gone. Luke joined me in my state of meditation and interrupted my thoughts by bringing me a book. I looked up at him, rolled my eyes and saw it. I have a blue plastic tub on top of a Rubbermaid drawer thingee where I keep my scarves. When I pulled it down, sure enough, all three right shoes were just sitting in the tub.

Case closed. Should have been much easier to solve, except that Luke has never touched that tub before. At least I know where to look next time. Until then, keep reading to see what else Luke "lifts" from my closet. Did I mention I'm missing an earring?
